Room 308, building A-2
The main function of the Laboratory of Audiovisual Techniques (room 308, A2) is to provide necessary equipment for teaching all aspects of modern multimedia: from still image, video, and audio acquisition and processing to proper output media preparation. A particular emphasis is put on color management, from both a practical (e.g., monitor color profile creation) and a theoretical (e.g., color management theory) standpoint. The second function of the laboratory is to teach all aspects of virtual reality - from extended reality (imposing a 3D generated image onto a real-world video signal) and computer games to a full virtual reality experience. The former is achieved by using the Virtuix Omni system with a license for a full software suite necessary for its programming.
The most noteworthy equipment of the laboratory includes the following:
- a live acquisition video system based on Blackmagic DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G, allowing live 4K RAW video acquisition, an Intel Xeon W-2245 CPU, 64 GB RAM, NVidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card, a Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSD and a professional grade Western Digital Gold WD4003FRYZ (4 TB) HDD
- a 4k Panasonic HC-X1 video camera with a Calibrite ColorChecker Video chart for white balance setting
- a DMX light console Behringer Eurolight LC2412 with wireless DMX receivers and the following lamps: 4x RGB Cameo CLPFLAT1TRI3W IR Flat Par Can Tri 7 x 3W, 9x LED RGB Cameo PIXBAR DTW PRO, 5x Cameo STUDIO PAR DTW CLPSTDTW mounted at a ceiling, 2x Cameo STUDIO PAR DTW CLPSTDTW on high-rising tripods. The setup also includes a greenscreen.
- a Canon 700D camera, with a Benro tripod with a Benro IB2 head and a professional macro lens Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM,
- 8 graphics tablets Wacom Intuos M and one Wacom Intuos 4 PTK-840
- a Virtuix Omni system with a licensed commercial software suite, virtual reality glasses (HTC Vive, HTC Cosmos, Pimax 5K, OSVR HDK, Oculus Quest 2, Samsung Gear VR with mobile phone) and Epson BT 200 extended reality glasses
- a professional DAC/ADC audio system Focusrite Clarett+ 8pre (with 8 XLR imputs and 10 linear outputs) with headphones connected via a Behringer PowerPlay HA8000 amplifier and various microphones
- an MIDI keyboard Novation 49 SL mk III,
- an i1 Display Pro colorimeter, IT8/7.2 color charts, and a Kodak Color Management Checkup Kit testing system with a GrafiLite professional light.
