The laboratory provides a comprehensive environment for both research and education in the area of modern robotic systems, including industrial applications and mobile platforms. It forms a complete hardware and software infrastructure for the design, integration, programming and testing solutions dedicated for robotic systems with a special focus on machine learning, optimization and artificial intelligence.
Within the framework of robotic process automation, the laboratory is equipped with various integrated industrial manipulator stations supplemented by security systems, laser scanners and machine vision systems. All industrial robots are supported with proper network interfaces and software for full design and simulation of robotic applications according to the Industry 4.0 standards.
In the area of mobile robotics, the laboratory offers a large variety of mobile platforms presenting a diversity of concepts for robot locomotion (both wheeled and walking robots), perception systems (including laser navigation and machine vision), cognition and programming (embedded systems, simulation software and numerical libraries). This provides a systematic approach to learning the methods of navigation and localization of autonomous mobile wheeled and walking robots, characterized by very high maneuverability.
The laboratory is also extensively used in teaching provided on both the undegraduated and the graduate level of the Computer Science as well as Automation and Robotics fields of study.
